Sunday, November 17, 2013 - Tasted Dan's btl which he said was his first of his case. Lucky guy, I only have one. Very dark ruby. Great BDX nose. This is nearly a pleasure to drink now but not quite. It shows great purity of fruit and classic BDX flavors of; lead pencil, mineral, earth and cedar. It even has a bit of surprising richness. The tanins are little sharp yet on the finish. I really think this should not be opened before it's 20yrs old which is not my usual modus operandi. In fact, this one may actually be best @ around 25yrs in the Btl but I'll drink mine in 2017 when its fully 20yrs old. I'm not a believer that BDX or Burgundy automatically needs to be 20- 25yrs plus to enjoy but, some do need more than 15yrs and Barton is one. If I can maintain patience I'll wait till 2017. Hold till at least 2016/17.

If you have a full case your's are probably in great shape too like the btl Dan opend from his case the other night. I know I'd decant the heck out of it if I was to open one. I'd do 4 hours at least and then double back into the btl if oyu drink one now. With 12 you have the luxury of gving one a try.
