Saturday, February 5, 2022 - 4 hour decant. Pours inky, opaque red-purple. No sediment. Nose is intense and exudes brown sugar-crusted barbecue, oolong tea and latakia tobacco, menthol, eucalyptus, truffle-laden evergreen forest floor, and black raspberry. Some alcohol on the nose, but not much. On the entry is a surprisingly bright raspberry herbal tea and deep mole sauce flavor. Elevated citrus-like acid on the mid buoys flavors of dried cranberry and bakers chocolate. Chalky, dark chocolate-like fine tannins lend needed structure and balance on the back end. Orange pekoe tea and more savory chocolate extends into a med+ finish. Really stunning wine for USD$20. Drink now with plenty of air, or hold through 2030. Excellent 93.
