Tasted at a charity tasting event sponsored by a large NJ retailer. Dark garnet purple, a little purple in Syrah is expected. Very oaky and rich, seems pretty well balanced though. Dark fruit on the ripe side with rather tannic edge. I think this would have been a better wine with less new oak than they aged this with. But it seems like it had good material to start with.

4 hour decant. Pours inky, opaque red-purple. No sediment. Nose is intense and exudes brown sugar-crusted barbecue, oolong tea and latakia tobacco, menthol, eucalyptus, truffle-laden evergreen forest floor, and black raspberry. Some alcohol on the nose, but not much. On the entry is a surprisingly bright raspberry herbal tea and deep mole sauce flavor. Elevated citrus-like acid on the mid buoys flavors of dried cranberry and bakers chocolate. Chalky, dark chocolate-like fine tannins lend needed structure and balance on the back end. Orange pekoe tea and more savory chocolate extends into a med+ finish. Really stunning wine for USD$20. Drink now with plenty of air, or hold through 2030. Excellent 93.

Smooth wine with dark fruit flavors with a little spice on the medium to long finish. Well balanced with nice acidity and integrated tannins. Have enjoyed previous vintages and this one delivered the expected enjoyment.

By the glass. Smoked aromas of black berries with notes of dusty leather and rolling tobacco. Unfortunately the wood invades everything. On the palate it is tasty and very long. Tannic and slightly unbalanced. Complemented with cabernet sauvignon and viognier despite what it says on the label.
Por copas. Aromas ahumados a bayas negras con memorias a esencia de cuero polvoriento y tabaco de liar. Desgraciadamente la madera lo invade todo. En boca es sabroso y muy largo. Tánico y ligeramente desequilibrado. Complementado con cabernet sauvignon y viognier pese a lo que dice en la etiqueta.

Nose reminds me of Pinot noir. Needs a few hours to decant. It’s jammy with licorice and a silky finish
