Saturday, May 29, 2021 - Infanticide but I missed this bottling in 2016 so was gagging to try a 2017- this actually my first 2017 Barolo of any bottling! Slow oxed for 4 hours.
The nose was muted floral and red berries, initial attack is high acid and fruit, lip-smacking sour cherries- pure fruit with a gentle undertow of tar lending body as it gains body with air. The tannins are silky smooth- extraordinarily so for such a young bottle. Lovely long lingering finish that indicates the complexity to come with time. Towards the 8 hour mark some of the menthol and camphor notes started showing.
