Friday, November 17, 2023 - 13% ABV. Aesthetic medium ruby appearance. Coravin pour.

Concentrated notes of black cherry, black plum, blueberry, smoke, clove, and blood/iron (very interesting). Medium density on the palate. Tannins are still resolving but very approachable now. Good, not great levels of acidity given the concentration of the fruit. Like the acidity, there’s good, but not great length of finish.

If you’re looking for finesse, there’s not much of that showing right now. This is absolutely representative of its old vine Gevrey character of being authoritative, brooding, and muscular. Lots of generous primary fruit and some (but not overt) oak still at the forefront. With all that said, this is drinking well now and shows great depth + complexity. Fourrier village offerings consistently overdeliver for the appellation and this is no exception. Not close to its peak yet.
