  • Bottle 3/6. Slow ox’ed in bottle and glass, this was more tamed and smooth than prior bottles albeit a touch less concentrated. Loads of savoury blue fruit and a finish of burnt cranberry and orange. Burnt hay nose. 10-15 second finish which is impressive for a “Village” wine. 92-93/100

  • Bottle 2/6. Beast of a wine, though not undrinkable with air. Wild underbrush nose. Incredible wild fruit and super concentrated black and red fruit, balanced between the two spectrums. Amazing pairing for Christmas turkey. Better in a few years. 93+/100 for now drink or hold.

  • Woah. This is super raw Pinot Noir, feral and extremely captivating. Shared by a generous friend. Decanted about 30 mins- a touch of spritz on the palate when opened, but instantly expressive and dazzling.

The nose was a burst of bright energy; began with wild-picked mulberries and raspberries, salty, one could practically smell the acidity. Intense twinges of undergrowth, nori, bloody ironlike tones, and salty charcuterie were billowing around the pure red fruit. I wish we had drank it slightly slower; by the last glass the fruit had darkened in a fascinating way, showing deep raspberry compote alongside the umami.

The palate didn't quite have the detail of the nose, but what a presence, singing acidity (never tart) and superfine tannin giving life to the highly minerally, saline wild fruit. Lasted forever on the finish; cut thru a greasy cheeseburger with no issue at all.

This was my first experience with young Fourrier, after a couple of 2010's (MSD Clos Solon and the Chambolle Gruenchers.) Although those felt more "complete" and harmonious, the sheer wildness and savory attack of this 2019 was something to behold. I think the savory character and brightness were enhanced by the previous wine, a fairly ripe and rich Chard by Antica Terra in Oregon (also a gorgeous bottle). It's likely it made the Fourrier fruit show a bit less ripe than it would have otherwise.

  • 13% ABV. Aesthetic medium ruby appearance. Coravin pour.

Concentrated notes of black cherry, black plum, blueberry, smoke, clove, and blood/iron (very interesting). Medium density on the palate. Tannins are still resolving but very approachable now. Good, not great levels of acidity given the concentration of the fruit. Like the acidity, there’s good, but not great length of finish.

If you’re looking for finesse, there’s not much of that showing right now. This is absolutely representative of its old vine Gevrey character of being authoritative, brooding, and muscular. Lots of generous primary fruit and some (but not overt) oak still at the forefront. With all that said, this is drinking well now and shows great depth + complexity. Fourrier village offerings consistently overdeliver for the appellation and this is no exception. Not close to its peak yet.

  • Very high toned fruit aromas in the first pour but really hit its stride after an hour in the decanter. Nose developed to rhubarb and brush. Deep palate of slightly candied morelo cherry and plum. Long finish that got better at the last glass. So concentrated and complex for a Villages. I think this is drinkable now with air but would be even better in a year or two. 93/100 for now.

  • Bright red. Clear and clean. Flowers and red fruit burst forth in a typically expressive Fourier style. Palate with sweet ripe cherry and floral scents. There is some tannic structure supporting with a good balance of acidity and tannin. Probably improve with a few years more of age. But so delicious now. Compared to Rousseau’s 2018 GV village, the Fourrier is more candied red fruit and exuberant while Rousseau has the red fruit with more structure and mineral.

  • Last tasted 5 months ago. Opened at the beginning of dinner and followed over a couple hours in a Zalto burg stem. Last glass was by far the best. I’d echo my note from May, this is lush and full bodied, fruity, with a bit of savory notes coming in at the very end. Discernible as a 2019 with its dense fruit and bright acidity. Very young and very promising. Not unlike the 19 Dujac MSD

  • Deep red. A little translucent…

Slow ox for six hours. Quick Fourrier shake at the beginning. Multiple samples along the way. Very fresh. Shows continuing improvement, although it starts drinking well at Hour 4 (with some tastes… :-) just to keep the wine moving)

Red fruit nose with some blood. Maybe a hint of oak initially that blows off. Crunchy red fruit initially, moving towards well integrated red and dark fruit and a vibrant, dense and persistent palate.

A really good Villages. At Hour 7 excellent, improving and still going strong. More sanguine Upped the score from 92 to 93. Plenty of depth, concentration, mouth feel and interest. Wow.

  • Pronounced nose intensity with red fruits, strawberry, mushroom, toast. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is rounded. Great drinking window now.

  • Very pretty nose, red fruited leaning towards herbs and spice. I don’t see the overt oak that others noticed. Well balanced palate loaded with earthy spicy notes and nicely fruited. Gorgeously mid weighted. Structured more on acid for now but some tannins appeared after an hour. Loved it.

  • Really enjoyed this. Tasted next to 19 Antikythera at Antica Terra out of a zalto Uni.

Excellent concentration and extraction without any heavy oak notes. Balanced acidity with plenty of freshness. Compact fruit and spice notes without that extra gear of complexity. Should make for great old bones, but will take a long long time.

  • Très jeune, fermé et un peu austère pour l’heure, le fruit est mur, c’est riche et assez dense, mais le boisé domine pour l’instant, à revoir dans quelques années.

Young and somewhat austere for now, the fruit is ripe, the wine is rich, dense and deep, for now the oak dominates a bit too much, to be revisited in a few years.

  • My first '19 and an unqualified winner. This has the bold fruit of '18 but it's a bit higher-toned and the acids more pronounced. This isn't quite as open-knit as other vintages of this wine, but it's immensely drinkable nonetheless. Price is creeping up but I dare say it's worth it.

  • Candied red fruit. A lot more fruit forward than I would have expected but with a good amount of acidity to make it very drinkable. Would be interesting to try after some time in bottle as it did not as yet have any secondary flavors.
