Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - Nice dark inky purple color all the way to the brim. Huge nose of dark cocoa, baking spices, dark currant flavors and toasty oak. Palate was very refined. Interesting minerals and earth which threw me off at first but integrated over the course of the glass. Huge dark mountain fruit including blackberries, currants and boysenberries. Good dose of spice including touches of cinnamon and nutmeg. Decent amount of oak in this wine which took time to integrate with the spice and fruit. Medium body with seemingly good structure. Touch of tobacco on the finish as well. This is in a nice spot right now and has at least 5 years ahead of it.
