Wednesday, October 21, 2009 - Full garnet color. Warm, woody nose that is nicely supported by cassis fruit and some spice (nutmeg). The initial attack and mid-palate seems more open and rich than the nose suggests (wine has been opened for 8 hours). Refined for this vintage with enough plumpness to excite. Finish is fairly weak with some bitter tobacco overtaking the wine’s fruit. A good bottle of this and in fact a wonderful showing disregarding the finish. Alas, only good taking all components into consideration. (87)
