Wednesday, November 2, 2022 - Tasted in a arrivage tasting of all DRC 2019. Overall, the 2019s DRC are beautifully perfumed, very ripe wines, but they also carry a nice vein of acidity that is making them brighter and fresh. The bottles show incredible class, but also a certain ripeness that might be something that needs getting used to for purists. I thought that the terroir was showing beautifully, despite the ripeness of the year. The wines seemeed very different and true to their cru, especially at the beginning of the tasting and again with quite some air. In between the differences were just a tiny bit muddled.
A wine that wasn‘t that easy to taste at the beginning, but opened up a little bit with some more air. Very ripe, super perfumed, with notes of sweet red fruit, strawberries, red cherries, also some flowery notes, sweet spices, some minerality adding grip, too. It is layered and deep, has pretty full body, some medium-high acidity and tannin and seems overall very structured and in need of some time. Somehow it felt as if it was holding back a little tonight. (96-97)
