Thursday, July 8, 2010 - Shared a 375ml with Elsa over dinner at Gourmet Plus. Lovely Rosé, paired well with a whole variety of food - especially our roasted korubuta pork shoulder. Nice, rather serious nose, with quite a bit of yeast, tons of mineral, gravel bits, all on a bed of fresh blue berries, blackberries and raspberry ripple. There was a whiff of creme fraiche and a light floral lift at the end, and just that tiny dash of umami. Very nice. Palate was not quite as developed as the nose, but showed great balance and poise, with refreshing berry fruit and sweet strawberries piereced through with very serious minerality - slightly ferrous, very stoney, very nice. Finish was just a little lacking in length, withdrawing with a nice minerally linger and a touch of sweet orangey fruit. Otherwise, a lovely bright rose, with plenty of sophisticated character.
