Wednesday, March 23, 2005 - This is for real!!! Dark purple. Aromas of blackberry, mocha, toasty oak. Initial palate revealed a sumptuous array of dark fruit including blackberry and some blueberry along with earth, mocha, and hints of mocha, pepper, and vanilla. Extraordinaryly well integrated with a moderate full palate finish including fine, sweet tannins. Tasted blind along with the 2000 Carhartt which was good but not on par with this wine. Everyone agreed the 2001 was an outstanding syrah and several went out on a limb to compare this with wine priced 3X to 4X the Carhartt. This is an excellent wine and an exceptional value!!!!
