Wednesday, July 22, 2015 - Pondering the latest Kistler offering so decided to see how this was doing at age 10. Doubled decanted based on my last experience with this wine. Medium deep gold. After initial decant outrageous nose of a melange of fruits: peach, quince, pear, papaya musk melon with tropical overtones and quite spicy. Intense and long on the palate with the low yield/ripe fruit intensity very characteristic of Kistler but this bottling is much better balanced between fruit and dry extract than others. Excellent showing so far; far superior to last bottle. Second tasting: nose has receded somewhat but much better balanced between mineral and fruit on the palate; not as exuberant but more classy.
