Tuesday, June 15, 2021 - First of 10 bottles.
The wine is labeled "Los Coutalos" Vieux Cahors with the same graphics.
This was back when Cahors was still a VDQS.
Mid-neck fill, cork holding up but breaking without my Durant.
Not decanted as I try to assess the state of this wine.
In retrospect, this wine does not need decanting.
It showed beautifully upon opening, but needs drinking within 2-3 hours after opening.
Clearly on the tertiary side but still some fruit remnant. Excellent complexity, balance and length. A lighter wine in terms of structure, not a "Vin Noir" in any meaningful wine. Perhaps made from young vines after the re-planting following the freeze of 1956
Purchased at $ 14/bottle at auction...
