Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - Cool climate Syrah (with 2% Petit Sirah) from a small family winery in Mendocino. Spent 21 months in barrel.

Gave 2.5h air. Medium garnet color. Aromas of plum, oak, forest floor, clove. Medium-full body, velvety texture. Assertive dark fruit on the palate, slightly overwhelmed initially by oakiness and stalky tannins in the finish. Both resolve somewhat with time in glass, so this may improve with time in the cellar or a longer decant. Decent, but feels a bit overworked.
