Thursday, October 14, 2010 - Pale to medium yellow, initially nose perhaps suggestive of premature oxidation, with a nuttiness and some petrol prevailing. Highly unusual aromas of almond, oleander and a hint of citrus rind. On the palate, not as obviously oxidative, medium-bodied, with a hefty full mouthfeel. Really hard to peg this wine, and not sure what to expect as I've never had a Musar before, and certainly not this grape (Obaideh) in any shape or form. Reminds me a bit of an aged white Hermitage, as it shares the waxy character I associate with Marsanne/Roussane blends, but definitely less refined. Also similar to Savennieres in flavor profile. An interesting wine, but not entirely my cup of tea.

Incidentally, this was ordered from Garagiste and was supposed to be the Cuvee Reservee, but I received the middle tier "Cuvee Blanc" instead.
