Thursday, December 24, 2020 - Pop and pour, notes from 4 hrs open. Six years since my last btl, and less charming than I remember, a trend I've seen with many 05s. On the nose: soft red fruit, cinnamon, soft vosne earthy spice...that being said, darker and more wood-inflected than I expect from any Vosne, let alone Malconsorts 1er. On the palate: fantastic acidity to begin, but then rather hard, with hard candy and harsh, grainy tannin closing in quickly...this is just so rough on the finish...not elegant...we'll see what tomorrow brings.
