2019 Rivers-Marie Cabernet Sauvignon

Monday, January 22, 2024 - Three hour decant (only needs one). Deep dark intense magenta color. Wild strawberry, underripe blackberry, cinnamon graham cracker, freesia, linen, and subtle orange pulp. Dry, satiny palate, with slightly dusty acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This has reasonable complexity and nice structure, especially for its youth and price point. It’s a bit more Bordeaux-esque than I expected. There’s an elegance, but also more herbal and citrus character than I typically like. Hope to wait a year before having the next bottle.
