Wednesday, November 6, 2019 - Well that was delicious! I corovined a glass a few weeks ago and found it tannic and monolithic. However, the slow oz really helped bring this wine together. Beautiful translucent red with loads of sediment. Luckily, I had left it upright for the last several weeks. The nose was intoxicating with tobacco, leather and burnt cedar, however the dominant nuance was the dried plums. I didn't catch that at first, but once my fiance described it, I went back to assess and sure enough, she was 100% on the money. Lots of fruit left on the palate. Reminded me older Barolos I've tried, but lacked the dried rose notes I find in Nebbiolos. I purchased this wine for $38 on winebid back in Sept. For 2019, I have to say, this was the best QPR bottle I've enjoyed. I really need to start searching out older Riojas.
