Tuesday, March 6, 2018 - Château Margaux Vertical (Chef's Club NYC): Nose is comparable to that on the ‘96 with blue and blackberry fruits and violet floras. Prefer the ‘96 as it has greater projection and expression, as has been the case every time I've tested the two side-by-side. Palate has all the same red, black, and blue berry fruits as that on the ‘96, just a touch tighter and tougher, although not an inelegant wine by any stretch. Bigger tannin too. Supple, but never seems to match the integration and balance of the ‘96 for me.
