Friday, October 1, 2010 - Marvellous! The 2000 L'Esprit de Font Caude performed amazingly well tonight. Though this wine should definitely not rest any longer in your cellar it is an absolute stunner at the dinner table right now. It reminded me of a mature and full-bodied Bordeaux with cool red fruits, wet clay and very elegant tannins residing in the back-end of the 45 second palate. The wine is well integrated revealing just the amount of texture needed to accompany the oven roasted filet of Turkey, Girolles and potatoes Pont Neuf. As all other wines by Alain Chabanon this wine is also leaning more towards the elegant side than the exciting one, though I truly have to say I was excited over this experience. Thanks Alain! Highly recommended.
