Wednesday, June 14, 2023 - Deep ruby color, bright red fruit on the nose. On the palate, lush, round dark red and black fruit - cherry, plum, blackberry - with some spice, licorice, and hint of pepper on the finish. There is some residual sweetness that is nicely balanced by medium plus acidity and fine tannins. Compared to blockbuster zins from Lodi or Paso Robles, the Hartford zin is more refined and stylish, reflecting the cooler climate of the Russian River. Nicely done.
