Friday, February 22, 2008 - Perplexing wine. The first impression is of cherry cough syrup, followed by black cherry, tar, violets and leather. The finish is very tannic, high acid and comes across as a bit hot. My first thought was young Barolo. I am hoping this wine just needs time, because it did seem to improve in the glass. My score reflects the potential, given that the wine was not decanted and did get better. I was kinder than the other tasters.
