Saturday, May 12, 2012 - Enjoyed last night at the start of a grilled elk tenderloin dinner with a group of friends. Very consistent and consistently good, a crowd pleaser, a good QPR wine. Pale yellow, very effervescent with a lot of zing, great mouth feel. Nose of acid, citrus and cut grass with primary flavors of lemon, lemon grass and acid with a hint of underlying burnt sugar. I definitely recommend this champagne and as a side note although the Le Grand Dame vintage VC is clearly better, for the price difference this is much the better buy. Also, as a side bar, although I did not personally smoke the cigar with this champagne since as the host I was tied up with cooking and hosting duties, three good cigar buddies reported that the Epernay cigar which is specifically blended to go with champagne went very well with this.
