Thursday, March 12, 2009 - Popped and poured. Bright ruby. Beautiful but slightly reticent nose of sour cherry, goudron, alcohol and dried rose petals with a touch of menthol. In the mouth, a touch of spicy and earthy sauvage notes, almost like a great burgundy. Wow is this young - majorly tannic in the mouth, but fairly far back in the palate. Tannins buffeted by bracing acidity, which keeps things in balance. Over time I am getting more strawberry notes on the nose, with a touch of earth. Very good wine, as there is the stuffing to outlast the tannins over time.
