Wednesday, September 16, 2015 - Colour beginning to veer towards tawny. At first sip I was bothered by slightly overt vanilla and cloy on the finish, but these receded after more air and a mouthful of lamb. Fuller with more backbone than much mature Rioja, it was nevertheless harmonious and elegant showing sweet cherry fruit infused with kirsch and touches of spice together with velvety texture, fresh acidity and firmness towards the long finish. A lovely wine but my last bottle, alas.
