Wednesday, November 22, 2023 - Very stylistic of the vintage. As with most 2021s, this Kabinett was barely off dry, with the RS taking off the sharp acidic edges. Quite aromatic nose, some leesy yeast character along with white fruit and orchard fruit, slight sulfuric nose upon opening as well. Palate showing good intensity of white peaches, preserved lemons, and some lean tropical fruit. Still stupidly young as there is the structure for ageing to help calm the sharp edges. Time helped the wine in the glass and ultimately it’s drinking quite nicely (esp with food) and brought a good amount of joy for a killer price. Solid Kabinett that would work as a cellar defender (and potentially gem down the line as with most 2021 Kabs). There isn’t enough purity or concentration of fruit to stand out against some of the other 2021 German Rieslings that I have tried, but this is still a beautiful wine. 92+
