Sunday, December 17, 2023 - Dark black cherry, crushed violets, earthy loam, smoky tobacco and anise. The palate is board, serious and slightly rustic with dark black fruit and cassis flooding the palate along with savoury chocolate, iron, fresh earth, sweet tobacco, cedar and finely grained tannins finishing long with mineral notes. This includes some fruit from Coombsville to help soften and allow this wine to be enjoyed earlier. I still decanted this for 6 hours, however I am more than impressed as a 'second' wine and this gives a small glimpse into how the Howell Mountain wine is.
