Dark black cherry, crushed violets, earthy loam, smoky tobacco and anise. The palate is board, serious and slightly rustic with dark black fruit and cassis flooding the palate along with savoury chocolate, iron, fresh earth, sweet tobacco, cedar and finely grained tannins finishing long with mineral notes. This includes some fruit from Coombsville to help soften and allow this wine to be enjoyed earlier. I still decanted this for 6 hours, however I am more than impressed as a 'second' wine and this gives a small glimpse into how the Howell Mountain wine is.

Napa Valley - November 2022; 11/16/2022-11/19/2022 (Napa Valley): Tasted at the Dunn property up on the mountain with Mike Dunn. Palate of cola, vanilla and black plum. Tannins fine and will integrate nicely. Round, smooth mouth feel. Obviously much more approachable now than the Howell's as is intended. Very nice.
