Friday, August 13, 2010 - Drunk alongside 90 Leoville Barton and 90 Troplong Mondot. Decanted 1 hour before serving. Brownish tinge and had the dullest colour of the trio. On the nose, a bit more funk then the others but unmistakeable Pauillac cigar box and leather. On the palate, it showed good deal more complexity with still that funk up front followed by cassis and well integrated tannins. As the evening wore on, the wine opened up far more on the finish and finished the evning showing very strongly. I had some of the Latour austerity and richness, but nothing like the tannin or complexity of the Grand Vin. Perhaps a few years too old, it showed very well against two top class wines. For 2 of my guests, it was the WOTN.
