Monday, October 15, 2012 - Needs coaxing, but on the nose it's all there, spice, hint of coffee and, for once it really is there, crushed violets. Palate is clean fresh and lively with pure cherry and bramble. Long, finishes spicy again, juniper. The fruit and acidity made this wonderful match for duck, no sauce. Very unevolved, needs some years to gain flesh and subtlety. Lovely tannic grip finish, still austere I think this needs another decade, sorry to say. Not sure my remaining bottles will make it.
