Friday, January 26, 2024 - Rieslingfan visits Albany; 1/26/2024-1/27/2024 (Châteauneuf-du-Salil, Albany): Liking this style of dry Riesling more and more these days as I look for something a bit lighter/leaner than the heavier Smaragds/GGs. This is all lemon and flinty stoniness at first, with a zesty brightness to the aromatics and light herbal and smoky elements that become a bit more prominent with air. It's a wine that has plenty of presence on the palate, but feels very light and delicate (though never austere) with plenty of acidity beneath. Lovely wine.
