Honeysuckle flowers, fresh lime and a little seaspray on the nose. Salt and lime are both big on the nose, tastes like a prelude to tequila ;-) Bright acid but also with a pleasing body weight, I'm guessing from some lees stirring? Real minerality that lingers in the mouth. Years before what I'd normally consider the drinking window for Clare Riesling so I expected this was to be a sacrificial bottle for a family lunch but it's drinking beautifully even in its youth.

Rieslingfan visits Albany; 1/26/2024-1/27/2024 (Châteauneuf-du-Salil, Albany): Liking this style of dry Riesling more and more these days as I look for something a bit lighter/leaner than the heavier Smaragds/GGs. This is all lemon and flinty stoniness at first, with a zesty brightness to the aromatics and light herbal and smoky elements that become a bit more prominent with air. It's a wine that has plenty of presence on the palate, but feels very light and delicate (though never austere) with plenty of acidity beneath. Lovely wine.

I’m not sure about this bottle/tasting. Was restaurant by the glass, and being a Monday night, can’t be sure of how much oxygen this has seen. I start with that context because I found little enjoyment in this. The acidity and length were all there, but there was a massive dollop of exotic passionfruit on the palate. Curious to know if anyone else has seen it show this way?

During a walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Very dry and sinewey, for the Mosel GG purist.
