Friday, February 9, 2024 - My first Chanin. Delicious but disappointing. The quality is undoubtedly there. But the oak is too present for me. I don't want to give the impression that it's absurdly oaked, but it's a touch too much in the foreground for my personal preference.

Beyond that, it's a scrumptious and complex wine with honeyed apples and chalky minerals on the palate. I saw it described as having high acidity, but that was not what I experienced. (Less acid than Liquid Farm's Golden Slope, for reference.)

Despite my complaints viz the oak, there is something very luxurious about this wine that kept me returning to the glass. If you're jonesing for a buttery oak bouquet — with much more finesse than you'd typically associate with those attributes — then give this a try.
