Friday, May 30, 2008 - Gaija Gaja led us through this amazing technical tasting at the Post Hotel Wine Summit in Lake Louise Alberta Canada. The beautiful daughter of Angelo was captivating, entertaining, and educational as she walked us thought the family history, vineyard history, and personal knowledge of 9 spectacular bottles of wine. The 2003 Darmagi, was a pleasant way to wrap up and incredible technical tasting. It was a dark purple in the glass and just sticky enough to hold the sides well. That viciousness did not reside in the mouth as it was too jammy. This had many Bordeaux stylings with cassis, oak, fireplace smoke aromas. It seemed a bit harsh but that could be its youth. I actually enjoyed this and made a note to get one case. It was an amazing tasting and Gaija Gaja did a marvelous of job of keeping all in the palm of her hand.
