90 Points

Tuesday, August 12, 2008 - This was the only blind of the night, with no one guessing it. I loved this wine, my kind of style. The best food WOTN in my opinion went well with the meat, sausage and mushroom pizza we had and spicy chicken wings! Yummy….
Popped and poured. Dark Ruby Red in color. On the nose, sweet black fruits, licorice, bitter chocolate. On the palate, this wine was medium-bodied, ripe and firm acidity with sweetish raisiny sweetness. Great food wine with some guessing this was an Amorone Valpolicella. Although, the alcohol could be felt on the nose initially, with about 1 hour in, the alcoholic fumes disappeared and the wine tasted smoother. A modern old world wine. One of my favorite wines of the night. 90pts
