Saturday, September 20, 2008 - Opened and decanted for about an hour. Appearance: very purple in color, almost a bright purple but could not see my fingers through the wine. Aroma: On the nose I first got knocked over with a funky wet dog aroma, this surprised me and I was taken aback by this, but I was also intrigued as well. I then picked up cassis, blackberries, black cherries and a floral component. Taste: Lots of raisins with black fruits hints of licorice, chocolate and a smokey aspect. Dry with firm acidity and a nice tannin structure. Finish was medium-long and the texture was chewy and there was an earthy aspect on the finish. Overall this was a very good wine and a nice surprise. Paired well with Chicken Parmesan.
