Thursday, March 23, 2023 - Wow what a difference from the last bottle I opened. This is delicious! Cork had only a 3/8 inch run. Fill to the half inch above the neck. Initially the nose was forest floor funk but very quickly evolved to dark berry and currant notes. On the palate the flavors of dark berries like blackberry dominate while there is a wonderful tingly feeling on tongue and gums. Tannins are fully resolved and integrated beautifully with the fruit. A pleasure to have saved this wine over the years!
Ok these comments are for 24 hours open: the wine now exhibits a smooth yet brooding dark berry dominant flavor backed by the now more supple tannin. This wine continues to evolve in the glass. There are subtle chocolate notes that matched well with a chocolate muffin. This wine has more life knit than I had thought. A super effort by Randy Dunn.
