Monday, June 19, 2017 - 5cl sample. With Elmar and Darryl. The whisky showed grain, malt and a hint of mint/After Eight on the nose and palate, complemented by a hint of underlying fruit flavours, some sweetness and maritime saltiness. This inoffensive whisky had moderate complexity and finished quickly. It did not hurt us, but it also did not spark the slightest bit of excitement.

6/21/2017 1:57:00 AM - Sowas hatte ich mir schon gedacht. Der berühmte "Ralfy" scheint mir allzusehr ideologisch zu bewerten, wenn er sowas lobt, nur weil ein Whisky seinen erwünschten Produktionsbedingungen entspricht.

Für mich ist beim Old Pulteney 12yo wirklich nur die die Salzigkeit erwähnenswert, die in dieser Ausprägung bei einem Whisky aus den Highlands überrascht. Ansonsten tut er nicht weh, wenn das ein Qualitätskriterium ist, aber intellektuell unterfordert er selbst mich...

6/22/2017 12:16:00 AM - Absolut. Ich hatte, bevor wir die Sample-Flasche spontan als Gaumenreiniger geöffnet haben, ehrlich gesagt keine Ahung wo Pulteney liegt und war dann dementsprechend überrascht. Bildung hilft ;)
