Thursday, February 24, 2022 - 2020 Disgorgement, base 2016. Strong matchstick oak presence on the nose. Even after a night open. Buttercream and lemon chiffon. Chalky palate displaying more straightforward wood. Some more pastry like qualities with golden apple. Solidly rich but not that deep. Its a bit edgy still where the finish meets the bubbles. I want to rest this wine anyway given its broadness. I want that oak to integrate better yet not sure this vintage is built for much improvement. It still grabs you like you want this wine to. Its no wallflower and I'm good with that.
