Purchased (for what I thought was a bargain) at the AMC auction in HK in late May, the case arrived at home a few weeks later and the Mrs and I simply had to open one to have a few sips. Simply superb, with tell-tale Margaux nose of flowers and earth, this medium-bodied claret just gives off class without coming across as a show off. Bottle was brought to dinner many hours later, and was still going strong. Compared with what some recent vintages of Margaux are selling for, the 1985 vintage must be one of the few relative bargains left in the overbought marketplace for first growth Bordeaux.
