91 Points

Saturday, January 14, 2012 - 91 -- at best. In the last month, I have had a '97 Cos and an '82 du Tertre, both of which I am confident would best this in a blind tasting. Yes' 97 was an off-year, and yes, du Tertre is not in the same class as Margaux., but I was a bit underwhelmed by this bottle.

Comparisons aside, a well-integrated bottle, that I suspect was at its prime a few years ago. Not too much fruit in my bottle. It did not have the richness and perfume that I expected. Moreover, the bottle did not have the secondary flavors/tastes that I associate with aged Bordeaux. Still some tannins hanging around which became more prominent toward the end of the bottle.

Good cork. Good nose at opening. Let it breathe for 20 min or so, then put it into a small bottom decanter, which seemed to help.

Bottom line: Was this a good bottle of wine? Absolutely. Perhaps/probably an excellent bottle. Was it worth the 240USD I paid for it (present retail double that)? I don't think so. If I had a bottle, I would drink it soon.
