Thursday, December 28, 2017 - Followed for about 8 hours in the decanter. Right after the cork is pulled, you get a lovely raspberry and slightly floral note. Not the complexity one expects from Margaux, but beautiful delineation and purity. With 2 hours of air, a beef-blood note emerges. At hour 5, a touch of ganache emerges. This is very good, but it's Margaux and it's 1985 - the expected complexity and interest just isn't here. I must confess to disappointment. Entirely possible that this is more compelling from large formats; this note is for a 375.
