Monday, May 31, 2010 - 2006 Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet Premiere Cru Tasting at Red Slate (Red Slate, Portland, Oregon): Apparently this is all Puligny Montrachet fruit that is declassified for the Borgogne Blanc. Golden apples with a dusty touch appear on the nose. The apples smell like they've been roasted a bit, and the acidity hints a bit toward grapefruit flavors. This is super clean on the palate, with light apples appearing up front, and full acid on the mid palate. It would benefit from a little more time to integrate. A hint of star fruit shows later, and a faint creamy note shows on the finish as well. Very late, some excellent grapefruit flavors make an appearance. Good fruit and complexity on a Borgogne Blanc? Bravo! 89+
