Wednesday, December 9, 2009 - Pop and pour. In the glass, clear, dark purplish-red. On the nose, stone fruit and pinot spice. On the palate, initially cherries, cherries, and more cherries, but after 45 minutes, developed secondary nuances of vanilla, minerals, and smoke. Just the slightest hint of alcohol on the finish, but more balance than some notes led me to expect. I'm not sure this has a long life ahead of it, but it's quite pleasant now with a bit of air.
