Friday, November 11, 2022 - I drank a 1995 one of these in 2005 (not decanted), and it was a beautiful wine. This 2000 had more age, so I decanted for 2 hours - it was also beautiful, and better integrated from aging. This was a good representation of the St. Julien terroir. Great bouquet of cherry and currant, with hints of oak and spice. Well-structured, balanced, medium-full bodied wine with robust flavors of red cherry, red currant, damp earth, and oak with hints of spice and cassis. Tannins were mostly integrated with a slight edge, meaning more to go before totally smooth. Long finish of cherry and cassis. This wine seemed to be nearing its peak, but I have no estimate of how many years of good drinking it has left in it - please check one of your bottles in the next 1 to 3 years.
