94 Points

Thursday, November 10, 2011 - Five Decades of Leoville Poyferre with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London): Dark youthfull red colour as expected from a 2000. Nose (not as open as the 2001 that we tried before this) cedary, smoky with some sweet fruit elements. Very elegant, not overdone. Still restarined but feels so structured and well made, classic wine. Deep, lots of fruit and with lots of length. A lovely sweet core too. This is among the most fwd 2000s and justifies the hype behind it. 94+ for the moment but given at the moment this is holding back we can only but imagine how lovely it will be in the future. Lots of life in this.Could well follow a similar path to the 1990.
