Saturday, May 30, 2020 - The fill was into the neck and the cork was sound; double decanted an hour before dinner, and served in Grassl 1855 stems. Purple core, turning towards garnet at the rim. Notes of cassis, ripe plums, blackberry, forrest floor, graphite, crushed stone, and hints of roasted herbs. Medium bodied, rich, ripe and velvety tannins, but great balance, depth, and grip; long and well delineated finish. The 2000 Château Léoville Poyferré has evolved and improved considerably over the last decade, and promises even more delights in the years to come!
