Thursday, December 10, 2015 - Nose with deep darker fruit, oak & vanilla, lead pencil, fine herbs and a touch of earth & gravel.
Palate displays soft and fine tannins, sour red and black berries, sweeter fruit some heat but fine overall balance and good acidity on the medium length finish.
Some toasted oak at the very tail was present.
My blind guess was Italian Cab based Bordeaux blend (Bolgheri) from a somewhat warmer vintage, but that was of course not the case.
Nice Ridge, from a herald vintage.
Can easily be saved for another decade, and most likely gain from that. (Lex Ridge Montebello 1997 for example)
Good effort, I especially like that the alcohol level made the whole package much more balanced than many similar wines from booth this vinery and this region.
Well done.
