Monday, March 25, 2024 - Deep, dark reddish-purple garnet in color; almost opaque. Full, forward, & attractive nose of dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, spices, dried herbs, coffee/cocoa, mineral & cedar undertones. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, lush & rich, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, cocoa, espresso, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing although it should develop further with additional aging. An indicative blend of 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. An enjoyable & supple Bolgheri DOC with a very good QPR especially in light of many overpriced domestic reds.
