95 Points

Sunday, February 5, 2012 - This bottle was purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion. It was double-decanted, allowing two hours in decanter prior to funneling back into the cleaned bottle. The robe is a youthful-appearing opaque ruby. The nose opens during the first two hours to show very intense aromas of cassis, coriander, vanilla and minerals. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, massive sweet tannins, well-integrated alcohol (which is listed as 13.9%) and black fruit-dominated flavors. The middle palate is rock-solid and silky in texture. The finish is long and smooth. This is quintessential Napa juice. It is luscious now, but will undoubtedly get even better. If you have the will power, hold it for another five years before popping the next cork. Drink 1/17-12/25.
